Diet Quality and Nutritional Adequacy During GLP1RA therapy

This presentation explores how GLP1 receptor agonist (GLP1RA) therapy influences dietary patterns and nutritional status. As these agents suppress appetite and alter digestion, they can reduce overall food intake, raising concerns about nutrient adequacy and muscle preservation. The session outlines general dietary considerations for patients undergoing GLP1RA therapy, including how to maintain balanced nutrition and support functional health. This presentation will consider dietary patterns and nutrients of concern in the context of GLP1RA therapy; the talk emphasizes broader strategies for sustaining diet quality, managing side effects, and promoting long-term adherence. It also addresses the clinical implications of weight regain after therapy discontinuation and the importance of integrating nutrition support into routine care. Ethical and access-related issues are briefly discussed, along with the potential for personalized dietary approaches to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Finally, research considerations will be discussed as the evidence base in this area needs to expand to improve the quality of care.
