Gaining Control: Patient perspectives and experiences using new generation obesity medications This session will highlight real-world experiences of patients utilizing newer generation obesity medications, focusing on the impact and challenges from the perspective of the patient. Ian will share his own extensive experience with obesity management and GLP1 medications as well as pull in diverse experiences from other patients from his role as a peer-support community leader and global obesity patient advocate.

Speaker/Chair Bio:

I am the Director of Advocacy and Public Engagement for Obesity Canada. A Kinesiologist by training, my research focused on obesity research. In my current role I combine my academic training with my personal lived experience with obesity and obesity treatment to advocate for better, more informed and respectful obesity care. I was involved in the development of both the Canadian adult and pediatric obesity clinical practice guidelines and also serve as the Co-Chair of the Global Obesity Patient Alliance (GOPA).
