GLP1/GIP vs low-calorie diets

Both low calorie diets, particularly those incorporating satiating meal replacement products, and incretin mimetics (GLP1RA, GLP1RA/GIPRA combinations) can facilitate important levels of weight loss. We will compare and contrast these approaches to weight change in terms of acceptability and adverse effects, evidence for effects on weight and cardiometabolic endpoints, and need for support and follow-up. We will discuss trials that we are conducting that are examining effects of low calorie meal replacement product-based diets in combination with supervised exercise and food-based low calorie dietary approaches. We will stimulate discussion of a personalized medicine approach to selecting the right approach for an individual patient.
